If you’ve been keeping up, then you know Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick’s son Mason Disick has been living a more private life these days.
Sure, the 14-year-old still makes the occasional cameo on The Kardashians and on his parents’ Instagram accounts (he even joined the app in May). However, he doesn’t appear on fans’ screens as often as he used to—and there’s a reason for that.
“I see comments all the time that I’m never with my kids, and I just don’t love to post my kids on social media,” Kourtney—who also shares daughter Penelope Disick, 12, and son Reign Disick, 9, with ex Scott—explained on a 2022 episode of the podcast Not Skinny But Not Fat. “They don’t love it—sometimes they do.”
In Mason’s case, she noted, he “doesn’t want any part of it.”
“He doesn’t love it,” the reality star continued. “I want my kids to be kids. I crave normalcy as much as we can have it.”
Considering the teen’s life has been documented since birth, followers could understand why he may want a break from the cameras. But as Kourtney has made clear, when it comes to family time, it’s not a matter of pics or it didn’t happen.
“Just because he's not in the photo,” the Lemme mogul replied to an Instagram follower in 2022, per The Daily Mail, “doesn't mean he's not with us.”
And she knows just how cruel the internet can be, which is why she initially deleted Mason’s Instagram account after he signed up without her permission in 2020.
“I think on Instagram the thing that really worries me with kids is comments,” the Poosh creator noted on social media at the time. “People can be so mean.”
So even though Mason isn’t in the spotlight, his mom and dad have noted he’s still thriving.
“He’s great,” Scott said on an episode of The Kardashians earlier this season. “He’s been really unbelievable. We’re closer than ever.”
In addition to her three kids with Scott, Kourtney has son Rocky Thirteen Barker, 8 months, with husband Travis Barker—the couple have also been protective of his privacy by not revealing his face—and is stepmom to the Blink-182 drummer’s son Landon Barker, 20; daughter Alabama Barker, 18; and stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya, 25, from his previous marriage to Shanna Moakler.
